Rosser C. Newton

Managing Director

Responsible for sourcing, monitoring, growing and exiting investments; member of the Petro Capital Funds Investment Committee. Founded Petro Capital Group in 2002. Former Chairman of EagleRidge Energy, Arctic Acquisition, Cougar Pressure Control, Director of Platinum Pressure Services, among others.


 

Currently serves as Board Chairman for NitroLift Holdings, LLC and as Director of Shack Energy Services.  Former Energy Banker at Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch; over 20 years of energy banking and investing experience. Mr. Newton received a BA from Vanderbilt University and a JD from The University of Texas School of Law.

Jay Squiers

CFA - Managing Director

Responsible for sourcing, monitoring, growing and exiting investments; member of the Petro Capital Funds Investment Committee. Jay has over 25 years of experience as an investment professional.  He previously served as a Managing Director of Alliance Partners, LLC where he started and grew the equipment finance division. Prior to that he was the EVP & COO of CSG Investments, Inc., an investment affiliate of Beal Bank. Other previous positions include a Principal at American Capital Ltd. as the head of energy lending operations; Managing Director of Fortress Investment Group directly originating loans for the Drawbridge Special Opportunities Fund; and an SVP of Prudential Capital Group serving as a team leader responsible for origination and portfolio management of up to $2.5 billion of loans with an energy emphasis.



Jay began his professional career as an Associate at Hughes & Luce in the Corporate Securities section. Former Director of Midnight Oil Exploration. Ltd. and Pace Oil & Gas, Ltd., publicly traded, Calgary-based E&P companies. Mr. Squiers is a chartered Financial Analyst and received an AB in Economics (graduating magna cum laude) from Princeton University and a JD with Honors (earning Order of the Coif distinction) from The University of Texas School of Law where he served as the Book Review Editor of the Texas Law Review.

Robert Gillespie

Associate

Responsible for analyzing new investment opportunities and monitoring existing investments. Formerly Investment Analyst at Mount Kellett Capital Management, an $8 billion AUM alternative manager focusing on opportunistic, special situation, and distressed real estate investing.



Previously, he worked in the Investment Banking Group at Southwest Securities, focusing on middle market debt and equity raises and M&A advisory. Mr. Gillespie received a BBA, Finance from Southern Methodist University, Cox School of Business, with a specialization in Alternative Asset Management.

Garrett Mayer

Business Development

Responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities and managing existing investments. He has been with Petro Capital since June 2015.  Formerly Director of Business Development at Five States Energy Capital, focusing on sourcing acquisitions, mezzanine financing, and midstream deals. Formerly served as President of GSM Interests, Inc., and Director of Industry relations at Drilling Info, where he created and managed sales and customer support teams, launch the Denver office, and helped build the land and leasing database that is currently used to this day.


Mr. Mayer is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin and earned his BBA in Marketing from Angelo State University.
